Nowdays much of the information needed to learn about guitar playing is available from many different sources. There are hundreds of textbooks, instructional videos, CDs and on-line guitar lessons. This is good. But books and Internet materials can't listen to your playing and point out any mistakes or flaws that may be present. They cannot offer you direct advice on your playing or song writing or answer your specific questions. So if your ambition is to become a competent player and a competent musician, you need the aid of a teacher.
